
Kevin Cheek is an award-winning composer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer/songwriter. After touring the United States extensively with the Marine Corps Band, Kevin began studying music theory and composing under the tutelage of Dr. Yiorgos Vassilandonakis at the College of Charleston. It was there that he won the Reba Kinne Huge Award in Music (2016), later graduating from the college in 2017. Kevin began his graduate studies in 2020 studying under Dr. Stephen Lias. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Master of Music degree in 2022, his concentration being theory/composition. Kevin enjoys composing for many different ensemble settings and his first orchestral work, Return to Me, was performed by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. His works have been performed in Charleston, Beaufort, Myrtle Beach, and New Orleans. More recently, his concert-band piece, A Soldier's Story, was premiered by the U.S. Marine Band and the 282nd Army Band.
